About
JJ Juras
Founder, product leader, and writer. I learned how the world works by doing the jobs that keep it running.
The short version
I spent more than twenty years in financial services. I led the teams that built and launched digital products and services, from the first sketch through the day real customers used them.
In 2026 I founded Robot Mercantile, the growth partner for Tesla's Robotaxi network in the Carolinas.
I am also the creator of NANTUCKET, a television series, and the writer behind Nantucket Films' Field Notes column.
All of it is built with AI agents, and I spend as much time keeping them honest and safe as I do making them useful.
The island résumé
My Nantucket summers were working summers. The jobs that serve the summer the island hosts. Everything I write about the island comes out of them.
- Gardener
Other people's hedges, other people's roses. You learn an island fastest through its soil.
- Camp counselor
Keeper of the island's kids in the island's water.
- Tennis instructor
Teaching the summer's children the summer's game.
- Wedding-tent crew
Up before the wedding, down after it, invisible during.
- Concierge
Straight Wharf. The desk where the island meets its summer.
- Found
One arrowhead, while working. The island gives its history to the people doing the work.
What I believe
Start with something real.
I do not trust an idea until I can go stand next to it. A product starts with a real person and a real job. A story starts with a real place and a true record.
Do the whole thing.
Half-finished work costs more than finished work. Ship the full thing, verify it live, then write down what you learned.
Own the decision.
Tools recommend. People decide. Every system I build keeps a record of who decided and why, so the decision can be defended later.
Measure what matters.
I am a certified Six Sigma Green Belt. If a thing matters, it has a number, and the number is checked every week.
